Why we build on Shopify
For most online stores, Shopify handles the hard parts well: hosting, checkout, payments, inventory and security. That frees the budget for what actually differentiates a store: product presentation, search visibility and the path to purchase.
Our job is to make the store fit your brand and your catalog, not to force your catalog into a generic theme. We customize themes carefully, keep the app stack lean and design pages around how your customers shop.
Shopify is not always the answer. A business that sells a handful of services or custom quotes may be better served by a hand-coded lead generation site with a simple payment link. A business with a large catalog, regular inventory changes and direct online sales usually belongs on a proper e-commerce platform. We will tell you which fits during discovery.
Product architecture comes first
The structure of a store decides whether customers can find products and whether search engines can understand the catalog. Before design, we plan:
- Collections that match how people search and browse, such as by product type, use, occasion or material.
- Variants versus separate products, so one item with five colors does not become five competing pages.
- Navigation and filters that make large catalogs manageable on a phone.
- Clean URLs and canonical handling so the same product reached through different collections does not create duplicate content problems.
Getting this right at the start is far cheaper than restructuring a live store with years of indexed URLs. For existing stores, we restructure carefully, with redirects for every changed URL, so rankings and backlinks are preserved.
Collection and product page SEO
Collection pages are often the best-ranking pages in a store because they match broad shopping searches. Most stores leave them as a bare grid of products. We add useful introductory content, buying guidance, internal links to related collections and structured data where appropriate.
Product pages need specifics: materials, dimensions, use cases, care, shipping and returns. Manufacturer descriptions copied across hundreds of stores give search engines no reason to choose yours. We write original descriptions for priority products and set up templates that make the rest consistent.
Product structured data helps search engines read price, availability and reviews. We make sure it is accurate and matches what the page shows. This work connects directly to our broader SEO program.
Content beyond the catalog
Shoppers research before they buy. Buying guides, size and fit guides, care instructions and comparison pages answer those questions and give collection and product pages relevant internal links. They also give AI search tools clear, quotable information about what you sell. We plan this content from keyword research and focus on the questions that come up right before a purchase, not filler posts.
Seasonal demand matters too. Gift guides, holiday collections and event-driven landing pages should be built and indexed well before the season starts, not the week it begins.
Conversion: from browser to buyer
Traffic only matters if it buys. We look at where shoppers drop off and fix the friction:
- Fast, clear product imagery that works on mobile.
- Shipping costs and delivery times shown early, not as a surprise at checkout.
- Visible return policies and genuine customer reviews.
- Simple cart and checkout paths, with distractions removed.
- Landing pages for campaigns that match the ad the shopper clicked.
We set up analytics and conversion tracking so changes are measured, not guessed. More on our approach in conversion optimization.
What to expect
- Discovery. Catalog, customers, margins, competitors and the searches shoppers use to find products like yours.
- Architecture. Collections, navigation, product types and URL plan, agreed before any design work.
- Design. Custom templates for the home page, collections, products and campaign landing pages.
- Build and content. Theme development, product data setup, collection content and priority product descriptions.
- Launch. Redirects, structured data, analytics, conversion tracking and a final speed check.
- Grow. Ongoing SEO, testing and campaign pages, if you want us to stay involved.
New store builds start with catalog and search research, move through design and build, and launch with tracking, redirects and structured data in place. For existing stores, we start with an audit of structure, speed, SEO and conversion, then work through a prioritized list.
Results vary by market, competition, budget and campaign. If your store is getting traffic but not enough orders, or not getting found at all, request a free audit.
